About ENRICHMENT at CVES

The CVES PTSA Enrichment Program creates opportunities for families to give their children more experiences in the arts, math, sciences, and physical education. The classes are usually held right after school and are run by independent contractors who specialize in their field and in working with children.

Compass Adventures: Leadership Club - IN SESSION

DMW Martial Arts - IN SESSION

Grades K - 5th 

DMW Martial Arts will be conducting a 6 week life skill, character building martial arts program at Cascade View Elementary School.  This program includes training on 8 fundamental skills that will teach your child to learn how to protect themselves both physically and mentally.  Martial Arts training teaches children focus for better grades, confidence to make new friends, respect to listen to adults, self-discipline to stand up to peer pressure and much more.

Drawing Board Art: Cartoon Character Creation - IN SESSION

Wednesdays - 3:00-4:30pm
January 11 - March 7
Grades 2nd - 5th

In this 8 week workshop, students will create their own cartoon character, give him or her a personality, paint a portrait of the character, and draw 3-4 comic strips or "cartoons" of their characters.  Students will work in pencil, color pencil, ink and marker, as well as some writing for their dialogue, content & character development.

Seattle Languages School will be teaching French classes at CVES.  All of our language classes are taught in the target language and focus initially on verbal communication before shifting to reading and writing.  Depending on the age of the students, our classes incorporate different activities like playing games, singing songs, story-telling and roleplaying.

Gymnastics Express - IN SESSION

Our grade school program is a fun, non-competitive class for boys and girls. The program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop gymnastics skills in tumbling, on the balance beam, bar and vault.

LEGO: Junior Engineering - IN SESSION

Explore physics and engineering through LEGO models using gears, pulleys, cams, and motors to bring your creations to life!  LEAP4KIDZ offers project-based STEM programs designed to teach principles and methods of science, technology, engineering, and math to children using LEGO bricks.

Chess 4 Life - IN SESSION

Students of all skill levels welcome to join this fun chess class and club--first time players through experienced tournament competitors--will learn the rules, tactics, and strategies for the game of chess.  More importantly, coaches will educate students on important life skills developed through chess, planning, patience, and good sportsmanship.

Drawing Board Art: Animal Art - CLASS CLOSED

Students in this class will work on drawing birds, fish, mammals and lizards.  We will be learning to draw animal protraits as well as close-up drawings of feathers, scales & fur.

For students with no guitar experience:
Thursdays - 3:00-3:45pm
January 12 - March 22 

Students will learn the fundamentals of guitar playing--including chords, notes, and how to read guitar tablature. We will play songs in different guitar styles-- including rock, pop, folk, country and blues. A limited number of guitars are available, but it would be best if students could bring their own guitars, if possible.

Hip Hop Dance - IN SESSION

Instructors from our local Cascade Dance Academy will walk students from school to the studio where they will learn Hip Hop dance, a fun, energetic class where we move faster, the music is louder and the beat is stronger!   For beginners, Hip Hop is a great way to try out dance without the leotard and tights.  For ballet or tap dancers, it is a great tool to round out their dance education with another style of dance.

Lights, Camera, Action! - IN SESSION

Create a short film, learn the fundamentals of acting and become a crew member on a movie set!  In the first 2 weeks, we will discuss equipment, screenwriting and have some auditions.  For the next 6 weeks, we will then create our short film.  After filming and the class is completed, the instructor will edit the film and every student will get a DVD copy.
