Thursdays - 3:00-4:15pm - January 26-March 8
Through active, engaging team exercises and community service, 4th and 5th graders will learn what they can really do if they put their minds to the task. Once a week for six weeks, students learn all about how to work together and communicate in ways that challenge, perplex, and frustrate them. Compass has designed the Leadership Club to teach children about Communication, Delegation, Risk Taking, Resource Allocation, and Leading from Behind. We'll be exploring those concepts as well as how a leader impacts his/her community. On Saturday, March 3rd, students will perform a community service project that they will choose as a group, such as helping the homeless, sponsoring local families in need, protecting our environment, just to name a few. This Fall, for example, students made over 100 brown bag lunches and canvased the streets of Seattle to hand out them out along with sweatshirts and leftover Halloween candy. It is a life-changing experience and an amazing opportunity for them to realize that they really can make a difference.
