Science Fair and STEAM Night

We were gearing up for science fair when COVID shut the schools down in 2020. I was pretty bummed to miss being part of the fair that year. This is our second year back to an in-person science fair and family night and I’m so glad we are able to share experiments and excitement around all things STEAM together!

We had over 40 science fair projects submitted this year. The student scientists did a fabulous job at finding questions and developing an experiment. We had a mix of parents and high school students from National Honors Society judge, I want to thank them all for the time they spent with our scientists this week at school.

Classes were able to walk through and view all of the projects during school. Families are invited to STEAM Night on 3/6 from 5-7pm at the school. At STEAM Night you will have the chance to see an avalanche model, play math games, make a stomp rocket, play a giant coding game, vote for your favorite science fair project, and more!

Congrats to all of our science fair participants on a job well done. And thank you to our partners for making this all possible:

Mathnasium, Smart With Art, Mt Si Robotics, Mt Si Green Team, Mt Si National Honors Society, NW Avalanche Center, Cascade Enrichment, Earthlight Rocks & Gems, Nature Vision, Steamboat Studios, Cascade View Elementary Staff and Parents!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 3 STATE QUALIFIERS FOR REFLECTIONS ART

Donuts moved to FEb 7th and 8th

The icing on the road wasn’t the kind we needed for donuts with grown-ups day! Because of the school closure and need to split donuts into two days, we are rescheduling donuts to Feb 7th (last name A-L) and Feb 8th (last name M-Z).

As 2023 comes to a close

As 2023 comes to a close and we all get time to spend with family and enjoy the days together, we want to say thank you for your support. Thank you for joining the PTSA as members, volunteers, and participants in our events. The fall has been busy with old favorite activities and new events we are trying. If you have feedback or new ideas please reach out to anyone on the board.

Thank you for a wonderful 2023, looking forward to a fun-filled 2024. Upcoming events include donuts with grown-ups, a new art walk reception, spelling bee, science fair, parent speaker, carnival, and field day.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT - BINGO!

The days are dark earlier and we are all turning to more indoor activities. I hope you can join the family fun night on Dec 6th as we play bingo, eat pizza, and have lots of fun together! The event is free to attend (we are giving everyone a pack of bingo cards enough to play 10 games) but we are asking for RSVPs. Please take a moment to RSVP here: https://bingo-night-44232.cheddarup.com

The 5th grade class is also selling bingo daubers to mark your cards, as well as dinner combos (pizza, a side, and drink) to raise funds for camp and their class gift.

And we have some great items in our silent auction for that evening. Thanks to the many businesses and families who generously donated the auction items:

Sno-King family skate, Club at Snoqualmie Ridge dinner for four (*Membership not required), Spring concert reserved parking by grade, Spring concert reserved seating by grade, Fence personalization, Cozy night in basket (blanket, candle, snacks), Family game night basket, Ruth Ryan jewelry (necklace), Seahawks tickets (2) for the game on 12.31, Kraken tickets (2), Paramount Theater tickets (4), Down to Earth basket and gift card, Chickadee Bakeshop basket, No Boat basket, Provocatrix basket, pizza with the principal.

See you at bingo!

Support our Art Programs and Events

The first volunteer opportunity I had with the PTSA was with art, so it is near to my heart helping kids explore art. While I’m not the best artist, I love the creativity and conversations art brings about in kids and adults alike.

The Friday art program is new this year. We’ve partnered with Smart with Art for cubs to have art roughly twice per month. If you’d like to volunteer in one of the art rooms we’d love to have you! Sign up here: CVES PTSA: Friday Art Volunteer (signupgenius.com). And make sure your back ground check is submitted to the office before your first volunteer day.

We have a few more fun art activities coming up, too. Canvas and Cocoa is a new event where the whole family can come create a painting while sipping on hot cocoa and eating popcorn. Purchase your tickets here: https://canvas-and-cocoa-painting-event.cheddarup.com. Students must be accompanied by an adult.

The National PTA Reflections Art Contest happens each fall. This year the theme is “I am hopeful because…”. See the Reflections page on our site for rules and entry form. Entries will be due Dec 1st. Talk to your student about the theme and generate some ideas and conversation; it may surprise you what they come up with.

Let’s be creative together!

School Spirit

Our rock and roll-a-thon is this week. This is the largest PTSA fundraiser of the year to help support all of our programs. Please consider donating to support a student. Kids can show their school spirit at the event with cub wear, grade level colors, or rock and roll attire.

Parents, if you are looking for a CVES shirt we’ve partnered with Dark Horse Printing to have more cub wear options. Please visit their store to order items directly from them. Home | Cascade View Elementary (inksoft.com) You can order additional youth CVES items, too from now until Oct 5th.

Thanks for showing your school spirit,

-Emily, PTSA President

Sept is a busy month

September is here already and there are lots of events on our World Tour. Join us for the ice cream social on 9/6 from 5-7, we’ll see you again at curriculum night on 9/14, and then we have walk-a-thon or our rock-and-roll-a-thon on 9/27.

We always debate when to have walk-a-thon… fall to capture the back-to-school magic or in spring to wrap-up the year and have a chance at nicer weather (which doesn’t always work out). This year we are splitting our big events to give kids, parents, staff and the board a little time between to reset and enjoy them all. Walk-a-thon is our big fundraiser that supports grants for staff, field trips, and all other events. Stay tuned for more walk-a-thon details.

PTSA members will get a backstage pass to sign-up first as a walk-a-thon volunteers this year. Join now: CVES PTSA - Cheddar Up

Keep on keeping on,

Emily (PTSA President)

Cub Spirit Wear

Grade level shirt t-shirts will be on sale in person at the kinder playdates, meet the teacher, ice cream social, and curriculum night. 5th grade will get the opportunity to vote on their grade color this year. What will it be? We’ll have to wait and find out!

Enjoying the last weeks of Summer

Getting ready for a stellar school year in 2023-24 and all we will get to do together, but still enjoying the last few weeks of taking it easy. The PTSA theme for this year is “Rock On Cubs!”. The PTSA Board is ready to rock it this year. We look forward to meeting new families at the kinder play dates (8/17 and 8/25) and to seeing old friends at the popular ice cream social (9/6 from 5-7pm).

Keep rockin’ -- Emily, PTSA President
